Studies

Policy makers and civil society argue that current generations have a duty to leave to the following generations goods and resources at least similar to those they inherited from previous ones. But is this what is happening? We developed some studies that assess in a objective way the main inequalities between generations in different public policy areas.

Proposals

Besides identifying the existing imbalances between generations, it is important to develop tools to prevent future imbalances, promoting fair policies for all generations.

In this regard, we identified the conditions that allow the implementation of policies, and we created a methodology that assess the impact of public policies on the present and future generations.

A commitment
with the future

We believe that this intergenerational fairness initiative can give an important contribution to the reflection about the key future challenges that the country faces, helping on the definition of the long-term strategical options that Portugal should assume to answer them.
