From today to tomorrow is a Gulbenkian Future Forum’s project on behalf of future generations. Because thinking about the generations of tomorrow means thinking about a fairer society in which all generations are entitled to the same human dignity.
Policy makers and civil society argue that current generations have a duty to leave to the following generations goods and resources at least similar to those they inherited from previous ones. But is this what is happening? We developed some studies that assess in a objective way the main inequalities between generations in different public policy areas.
Besides identifying the existing imbalances between generations, it is important to develop tools to prevent future imbalances, promoting fair policies for all generations.
In this regard, we identified the conditions that allow the implementation of policies, and we created a methodology that assess the impact of public policies on the present and future generations.
