Sarah Affonso

Prédios e Janela [Buildings and Window]

Throughout Sarah Affonso’s artistic path, landscapes and still lifes were occasionally approached subjects. Sarah Affonso’s cosmopolitan experiences in Paris allowed her to be exposed to a great diversity and quality of styles, which in a certain way contributed to enhance her visual and thematic sensibility. In this work, the visual values being imparted on landscape come upon a synthesis of forms and volumes, suggested by a greater incidence on the interplays of colour and emphasized by the tiny window frame in the edges of the canvas. The colour is used used to create planes, to boost the perspectives and to establish a sense of depth, as if it were a stimulus coming from the own subject and moment being portrayed.
