This report was prepared by the New Economics Foundation (NEF) with support from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and John Ellerman Foundation. The report is about NEF’s Blue New Deal initiative, which sets out a vision for revitalising coastal communities and protecting the natural resources they depend on. The aim of Blue New Deal is to balance the economic and social needs of our communities with those of our marine environment, ensuring their return to prosperity. The report sets out a number of innovative and sustainable approaches already taking place across the UK coast.
