Although acknowledged for his passion for the contemporary repertoire, having won several Grammy awards with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Giancarlo Guerrero is a conductor of great versatility, moving with surprising ease between contemporary works and conducting Puccini’s or Verdi’s operas, or the symphonic works from the traditional concert repertoire. He returns to the Grand Auditorium to conduct the Gulbenkian Orchestra, after being praised by the critic Jorge Calado in February 2017: “orchestra galvanised by the rock-style conductor Giancarlo Guerrero (…) an unforgettable concert”.
