Pedro Canhoto

Trombone

Pedro Canhoto studied at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional, in Lisbon, with Isamel Santos, and at the University of Évora with Hugo Assunção. During his training, he performed with several youth orchestras like Orquestra Portuguesa da Juventude, Orquestra das Escolas Particulares, Orquestra Sinfónica Juvenil, Orquestra de Sopros de Aveiro, European Rotary Brass Band (concerts held in the Netherlands and Germany) and the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra (concerts held in several European countries, North Africa and the Middle East). He has also participated in masterclasses led by Josef Allessi, David Taylor, Gilles Millière, David Brouchez and Scott Hartmann. On a professional level, he has played with the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, the Orquestra Clássica do Porto, the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, the Galician Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris. He began his artistic relationship with the Gulbenkian Orchestra in 2001, including participating in several tours (Germany, Spain, China, Romania, France, Armenia, Malta and the Netherlands). He has been 2nd soloist with the Gulbenkian Orchestra since 2010.
