Continuing the collaboration between RTP – Antena 2 and the Gulbenkian Foundation in various fields, Gulbenkian Music will once again host the Young Musicians Festival. The highlight of this event is the Young Musicians Award (YMA) which identifies and celebrates new Portuguese musical talent, introducing here the soloists and ensembles awarded in its 29th edition.
In addition to stimulating musical study and practice at a high technical and artistic level, the YMA seeks to contribute to a reflection on today’s important issues. In this context, this edition of the Festival joins the Gulbenkian Human Development Programme in promoting an important debate on inclusion through art and the organisation of a number of musical events with a strong cohesive dimension.
The Festival features the Gulbenkian Orchestra, which will perform at the 2015 YMA Prize Winners Concerts and the Gala Concert of the «Young Musician of the Year». Músicos do Tejo, the Sete Lágrimas and mpmp ensembles , the Stratos Quartett from the University of Vienna, the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa, the Orquestra Juvenil Geração, the Ensemble Juvenil de Setúbal and various prize-winning soloists in previous editions of the Young Musicians Award will also be performing.
