Gulbenkian Choir at São Roque

Event Slider

As has been tradition, the Gulbenkian Choir will return to the church of São Roque for a concert on the last day of the year. The Song of Songs, also known as the Song of Solomon, is one of the books of the Hebrew and Christian Bibles. Full of love poems, it combines spirituality with human love, which it describes as being as “strong as death”. Daniel-Lesur uses seven passages from this book in a work for twelve voices a cappella to achieve a result that is full of colour, virtuosity and intimacy.
