Event Slider

Rita Castro Blanco is Principal Conductor of the Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra and one of most promising Portuguese young artists. In this concert with the Gulbenkian Orchestra she will transport us to the morning of Christmas Day of 1870, when Richard Wagner offered to is wife Cosima the Siegfried Idyll in a unique way: it was Cosima’s anniversary and she was surprised by a group of musicians playing on the inner staircase of his home in Tribschen. The concert ends with Richard Strauss’ Metamorphosen, for strings, a work composed in the last months of World War II.
