For conductor Leonardo García Alarcón, we find ourselves completely amidst the “Cavalli century”, period of rediscovery of Francesco Cavalli’s work, early Baroque Italian composer. Erismena, opera composed in 1655, arrives at Gulbenkian Music in the major production debuted at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 2017, with strong musical and visual impact. Alarcón and his ensemble Cappella Mediterranea count on theatre director Jean Bellorini, rising star of European theatre, and a cast comprised of a precious combination of talents.
