The Museum displays a magnificent collection of Greek coins, being one of the most important ever assembled privately, following the expert advice of E.S.G. Robinson, a curator at the British Museum.

Porcelains and hard stones from China, lacquers and prints from Japan are the cornerstone of this part of the collection, which includes many pieces from Sir Trevor Lawrence’s collection.
Rich Eastern Islamic Art acquired in travels around the world
Ancient Persia, Turkey, Syria, Central Asia and Egypt, from the 12th to the 18th century, a vast and rich collection of objects, including textiles, ceramics, glassware, illuminated manuscripts and bindings. These were collected in his travels, from London to Cairo, Beirut to Damascus.
Great Masters of European Painting
Enjoy works of great painters from the 15th to the 19th centuries. These include Portrait of Madame Claude Monet by Renoir, The Wreck of a Transport Ship by Turner, Pallas Athena by Rembrandt, and Lady and Child Asleep in a Punt under the Willows by John Singer Sargent. Discover also works by Guardi, Rubens, Degas or Monet.
Sumptuous European Decorative Arts
16th-century tapestries from Flanders and Italy, a remarkable set of furniture and luxurious pieces of French jewellery from the 18th century. These are some of the pieces exhibited in this elegant collection, that incorporates many objects from the Hermitage, acquired by Calouste Gulbenkian around 1930.
Lalique, the master of luxury and glass
The Museum holds a unique collection of René Lalique’s work, displayed in its dedicated jewellery and glassware exhibition room. Calouste Gulbenkian was a friend and unconditional admirer of the artist, having directly acquired from Lalique almost two hundred items.

Centro de Arte Moderna
CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian is an art and culture center that houses the largest collection of modern and contemporary Portuguese art, featuring artists such as Paula Rego, Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, and Helena Almeida, as well as international artists like Sonia Delaunay, David Hockney, and Bridget Riley.
The new building, designed by architect Kengo Kuma, is a perfect fusion of art, architecture, and nature – with the striking “Engawa” canopy creating a new connection between the interior and exterior.
CAM offers an extensive and varied program of exhibitions, performances, tours, and workshops with national and international contemporary artists.
