Maria José Burki. Sometimes Shade, Sometimes Light

Sometimes Shade, Sometimes Light is the title of the first solo exhibition in Lisbon dedicated to Marie José Burki (1961, Biel, Switzerland), and brings together recent and previously unseen works by the artist, along with works from 2010 and 2012. It is also the third offering from the new exhibition cycle of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum known as the Project Space.

The bilingual publication that accompanies this show, the third edition of a graphic and editorial project that runs alongside the exhibitions in the Project Space, includes a text by curator Leonor Nazaré, as well as a few biographical lines about the artist. Two images from the 2012 photographic series displayed on the external wall are reproduced at the start of the publication. These are followed by stills from two films, an image from two others in an exhibition space prior to this event and a photograph from a recent series. A list of exhibited works completes the edition.
