Through 30 videos, explore a selection of masterpieces from Calouste Gulbenkian’s collection, including works by renowned artists such as Rembrandt, Rodin and René Lalique.

60 works, 60 videos, 60 seconds. As part of the 60th-anniversary celebrations of the creation of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2016, RTP launched a selection of videos, presenting a group of works from the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum and from the CAM. Here, you can get to know the 30 masterpieces from the Museum that were highlighted in this initiative.

Diana
By the most famous French sculptor of the 18th century, this sculpture of Diana is considered Houdon’s masterpiece and one of the Museum’s most prized pieces.
Iznik tile panel
This tile panel dates from around 1545 and was produced in Iznik, the main ceramic manufacturing centre of the Ottoman Empire.
Rembrandt
This work by Rembrandt, considered the best painter of the 17th century in Holland and one of the greatest ever, belonged to Catherine the Great of Russia.
Inrō
The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum features a considerable number of inrō, small boxes with several divisions that began to be used in 16th-century Japan.
René Lalique
Calouste Gulbenkian was one of Lalique’s first customers and became a friend, acquiring works directly from the artist.
Bas-relief
This winged genie, sculpted nearly 3000 years ago, is a demigod destined to bless Assyrian King Ashurnasirpal II and protect the royal palace in Nimrud.
Renoir
This work, by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, is one of the most remarkable in the Gulbenkian Collection, and portrays Camille Doncieux, wife of the painter Claude Monet.
Cabinet
This cabinet was crafted by Charles Cressent, a renowned cabinet-maker and sculptor, who considered it one of his finest works.
Manet
Édouard Manet painted this portrait in 1867, representing his stepson Léon Koelin Leenhoff blowing soap bubbles.
Fragonard
Jean-Honoré Fragonard is considered one of the most remarkable and prestigious European painters of the latter 18th century.
Ivory triptych
This magnificent ivory triptych bears witness to the growing cult of the Virgin Mary in the 14th century.
Mihrab
This 700-year-old prayer niche was part of a religious building in Kashan, Persia, an important centre of ceramic production.

Tapestry ‘A Pesca’ [Fishing]
Made in a workshop in Mantua, this piece is one of the Collection’s four tapestries belonging to the set ‘Jogo de Crianças’ [Children Playing].
Iznik jug
The Gulbenkian collection of Iznik pottery is one of the most important and famous outside Turkey.

This unfinished painting depicts the Flight into Egypt, one of the most important episodes in the New Testament.
