The starting point for Yto Barrada’s project is the unique and tragic figure of Thérèse Rivière. In the 1930s, the French ethnologist traveled to Algeria, to the Aurès mountains, to study the Berber Chaouis people.
Drawing in Motion
In conjunction with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis is hosting the exhibition José de Almada Negreiros: Drawing in Motion, which brings together ninety works that attest to the importance of cinematographic language in the visual art of this peerless figure of Portuguese modernism.
This exhibition includes a number of works that were previously on display as part of José de Almada Negreiros: a way of being modern, but it will also feature many new and previously unseen works that were discovered only after the end of the earlier exhibition.Know more about the exhibition
