João Cardoso Rosas

João Cardoso Rosas studied in Porto (Bachelor and Master’s degree, University of Porto) and Florence (PhD, European University Institute) and he is associate professor in the Department of Philosophy of the Institute of Arts and Human Sciences, University of Minho, where he is the director of the Master’s program in Political Philosophy and the coordinator of the research group in Political Theory.

He also has been a professor or visiting researcher in Lisbon, Madrid, Oxford and Providence. His most recent books include: New Directions in the Philosophy of Human Rights (ed.), Braga, 2014; Left and Right: The Great Dichotomy Revisited, Newcastle, 2013 (with Ana Rita Ferreira, eds.); Indefinite Future: Essays in Political Philosophy, Braga, 2012 and Conceptions of Justice, Lisbon, 2011. He is currently, since 2013, chairman of the board of the Portuguese Philosophical Society.
