Meeting Visual Arts and Social Inclusion

Event Slider

A joint initiative of the Art Library and the Program for Social Cohesion and Integration, with the collaboration of the Gulbenkian Museum.

PARTIS – Práticas Artísticas para a Inclusão Social [Artistic Practices for Social Inclusion] is an initiative of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation that supports, through subsidies and capacity building, organizations that develop projects whose core methodologies are based on artistic practices (visual, audiovisual and/or performing) which are at the service of the inclusion of socially excluded citizens or those in a position of social vulnerability.
Through the projects made possible, PARTIS seeks new communication languages between groups/communities which usually don’t cross paths and to provoke meetings of interest that contribute to a reduction of social inequalities and to a greater autonomy for the more disadvantaged people and communities.

Bearing in mind that in 2018 a new call for tenders will be launched and that visual arts are one of the artistic branches eligible for support, the undertaking of this meeting intends to present examples of projects that focus their creative process in participatory work and/or co-creation with the community and to promote the reflection about the role of visual arts in direct relationship with social inclusion practices.
