The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose core mission is to improve people’s quality of life through art, philanthropy, science, and education. The Foundation conducts its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon and through its offices in Paris and London.

We are looking for an Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audit and Risk Management Department, who will be responsible for supporting the development of internal audit activities in accordance with established standards, methodologies, and processes. The role will contribute to the execution of the annual internal audit plan and to the continuous improvement of internal controls, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of the Foundation’s processes.

Contractual Conditions: Permanent employment contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation of the annual internal audit plan for senior management approval, ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s strategic objectives.
  • Identify areas requiring deeper and more detailed analysis, with a view to proposing specific audit engagements.
  • Perform internal audits in accordance with the approved audit plan, ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Prepare internal audit reports, documenting findings, identifying areas for improvement, and formulating appropriate recommendations.
  • Ensure follow-up on issued recommendations and monitor related action plans in close coordination with the Foundation’s various departments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Auditing, Management, Economics, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in internal or external auditing.
  • Solid technical knowledge of auditing.
  • Knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IIA Standards).
  • Strong ability to identify, analyse, and assess risks within audited areas.
  • Good understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
  • Experience in data analysis using tools for data cross-checking and dashboard development.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferencial skills

  • Experience or strong aptitude in the use of information systems, databases, and analytical tools, ensuring an effective response to the growing needs in this area.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Power BI.
