Zoh Amba Trio

Zoh Amba Tenor saxophone
Luke Stewart Double bass
Chris Corsano Drums

Duration 60 minutes

There is something very special, linked to a particular spirituality, in the music of saxophonist and flautist Zoh Amba. This makes particular sense when recalled that she found her personal epiphany in the music of Albert Ayler and mostly practised alone in a forest close to her home in Tennessee. John Zorn, the new York jazz guru, was so taken with her unique avantgarde sound that he produced her monumental debut album O, Sun in 2022. After recording and collaborating with Tyshawn Sorey and William Parker, the saxophonist for whom “free jazz is gospel” (New York Times), she will lead a new trio with Luke Stewart and Chris Corsano at Jazz in August at the age of 23.
