José Júlio Marques Leitão de Barros (1896-1967) was a teacher, journalist, painter, playwright and filmmaker. He became known for his film career, but also left his mark on Portuguese journalism.
To celebrate the incorporation of the archive of Leitão de Barros into the special collections, by donation of the family, the Art Library and Archives organises a round-table discussion dedicated to his work. Moderated by Filomena Serra (art historian and curator), this discussion will have the participation of André Murraças (director, playwright, scenographer and researcher), Margarida Almeida Bastos (researcher on the history of Lisbon), Rita Fragoso de Almeida (researcher on the history of Lisbon), Sérgio Bordalo e Sá (researcher on the cinematographic work of José Leitão de Barros) and Pedro Martins (IHC researcher on contemporary Portuguese history).
