As part of our celebration of International Museum Day, we suggest a different ‘museuming’ story, one that allows us to reimagine and revisit the natural world around us. There are ‘museuming’ stories that originate outside the museum, in the middle of nature, in the depths of the earth, reminding us of the importance of the source of life, of the dreams that are sown to allow us to be reborn!

Inspired by Alberto Carneiro’s work Uma floresta para os Teus Sonhos [A Forest for Your Dreams], from the CAM collection, and the ‘manifesto for an ecological art’ by the same artist, O Bosque [The Wood] is a plant-based fable, in which a seed tells us what it is like to wait in the dark of winter, then grow towards the light of spring, in the certainty of turning into the large family-tree of our dreams!

An original creation by Fernando Mota and Margarida Botelho, germinated during lockdown in a wood, to remind us of the importance of breathing and rebirth.
