In Untitled (N’en Finit Plus), by João Onofre, a teenage girl performs the famous French yé-yé song La Nuit N’en Finit Plus by Petula Clark. From the bottom of a deep ditch dug in the green surface of the grass, Beatriz Mateus sings a capella the confessional lyrics of teenage intonation, which, at the age of 34, Clark lent to Jakie DeShannon’s melody of Needles and Pins. The movement of the camera from the dark earth to the night sky, an impossible panorama loop, acts as a metaphor for the idea of an endless cycle, from a dark night ‘that never ends’, from a latency around which this juvenile underground sorrow allows us to speculate.
