The return of mezzo soprano Joyce DiDonato to Gulbenkian Música, again in the company of the orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro, a group primarily dedicated to interpreting baroque and classical pieces on period instruments. It is generally agreed that Joyce DiDonato is one of the top performers of baroque music; in this, her latest project, she gives voice to arias by Monteverdi, Cesti, Händel, Hasse and Purcell. The title My Favourite Things reveals the singer’s personal choices and, according to the Financial Times, “the beauty and breadth of her singing are certainly at her impressive peak.”
