Hearts up High

Event Slider

Hearts up High is the result of a challenge faced by a group who are to interpret, with their bodies and voices, a set of pieces built out of listening to the religious celebrations held in the city of Lisbon. Some draw on shared origins in the works of art present in the room hosting this performance – the Museum’s Gallery of Islamic Art. This also features other works equally inspired on the religious hymns of Egypt, the Islamic Far East, Armenia and the former Ottoman Empire, which have pieces in the Collection.
