On the weekend of 24 and 25 April the 219 participants, who took the AstraZeneca vaccine four weeks earlier (on March 27 and 28), were tested to measure their immune system response in this stage.

Throughout the vaccination process, blood samples will be collected periodically to understand how each participant responds to the vaccine and the degree of immunity they develop. The follow-up will be done over a year and will reveal data unknown so far about group immunity and the duration conferred by the vaccine.

This is a project carried out by the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência in partnership with the Group of Health Centers of Western Lisbon and Oeiras and Oeiras Municipality focused on strengthening the epidemiological surveillance of the vaccine administration, which is essential to stop the pandemic.
