Sara Carvalhal, former pos doc at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, at Raquel Oliveiras’ Lab had one of the four projects distinguished with the medal from L´Oréal.

The 18ª edition got 72 candidates applying and distinguished four projects with a 15K € award to further the research in health and environment topics.

Sara Carvalhal is presently leading her own lab at Algarve Biomedical Center Research Institute and the project distinguished wants to understand if stem cell manipulation can clarify what causes microcephaly.

Furthermore, the award wants to contribute for science and a society more inclusive and equal.
