New projects approved in 2019

16 projects promoted by Portuguese non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have been approved for funding today within the Active Citizens Fund in Portugal, for an amount of around 730 thousand euros. The supported projects will be implemented in mainland Portugal and the Autonomous Region of the Azores over the next two and a half years, and were selected from half a hundred applications submitted in the 2019 calls.

Part of the funding approved today, which comes from public funds from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway (EEA Grants), went to 11 small projects aimed at promoting citizenship education and strengthening the fight against fake news, children and young people, especially in schools, being the main target audience for these interventions. The remaining funding will be spent on five major projects for capacity building of Portuguese NGOs, particularly in the areas of management, project evaluation, communication and advocacy, and volunteer management.

The results of the 2019 calls identifying the project promoters can be found here.
