Pamela Golden
Nevertheless, A Library
Artist's statement:
Rebuilding and re-evaluating the images of found photographs, texts and archives, I explore the nature of memory and history on a small and intimate scale. Layering oil and encaustic on paper, my small paintings are presented in large square white frames and encompass an analysis of human nature. I also make films constructed through similar means using montage and modes of editing to reflect both the history of the medium and contemporary culture.
In my work I recognize that life and social interaction are determined by the barriers and boundaries constructed according to our own insecurities. My intention is to produce a coherent body of work in a variety of media that interconnects and supports debate on theories of human development and well being.
