The 11 October sees the opening, in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, of the exhibition Surrealism Beyond Borders, which explores Surrealism and its reach, in both geographic and chronological terms. The exhibition includes works from 45 countries, produced over a period of 80 years.

The Gulbenkian’s CAM is participating in this project by loaning two works from the Collection produced in the early 1950s: the black and white photograph Intimidade dos Armazéns do Chiado [Intimacy of the Chiado Warehouses], by Fernando Lemos, and Ocultação [Occultation], Indian ink on printed image by Fernando de Azevedo.

The catalogue accompanying the exhibition explores the impact of the surrealist movement and its legacy between the 1920s and the 1970s and includes more than 300 reproductions of artworks, as well as contributions from more than 40 researchers in the area.
