On 12 February 2022, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, near Copenhagen, shall open the exhibition Sonia Delaunay, with the support of the Bibliothèque nationale de France. This is the artist‘s first solo exhibition in Scandinavia since 2007 and aims to be the most comprehensive, bringing together works on different media produced between the 1910s and 1970s.

This Danish museum already exhibited a selection of Sonia Delaunay’s works in 2012 in the exhibition Women of the Avant-Garde 1920-1940 in 2012, with which the CAM was associated through its loan of the gouache Chanteur Flamenco (dit Petit Flamenco), an important piece produced in 1916 and donated by the artist to the Gulbenkian Foundation in the late 1970s.

This work now travels again to Denmark, this time accompanied by two other pieces from the CAM Collection: an oil – Chanteurs Flamenco (dit Grand Flamenco) – and a second gouache – Auto-Portrait. These works can be seen in the Louisiana Museum until 12 June 2022, along with a selection of other works from international museums.
