CAM was founded in 1983 and aims to promote and study modern and contemporary Portuguese art. The collection includes works from the most representative Portuguese 20th century artists like Amadeo de Sousa Cardoso, Almada Negreiros, Julião Sarmento, Cabrita Reis and Rui Chafes, among others, as well as a set of works of British artists like Gilbert & George and Antony Gromely.
